Characterization of Six-Degree-of-Freedom Sensors for Building Health Monitoring

Six-degree-of-freedom (6DoF) sensors measure translation along three axes and rotation around axes. These collocated measurements make it possible to fully describe building motion without the need for an external reference point. This is advantage health monitoring, which uses interstory drift eigenfrequencies monitor stability. In this paper, IMU50 6DoF are characterized determine their suitability monitoring. It appears that components increases while acceleration decreases temperature. sensor ambient signal higher amplitude shaking shows these general not sensitive enough monitoring frequency domain, but could useful during, example, strong earthquake buildings similar those here.
